Pollution - English Essay
“Pollution is the forerunner of perdition.”
(John Trapp)
Pollution means contamination of Earth's environment with materials that interfere with human health, the quality of life, or the natural functioning of ecosystems. Although some environmental pollution is a result of natural causes such as volcanic eruptions, yet most are caused by human activities. Pollution renders our land, water, and air harmful to living beings. Every part of our world has started to face the grave impacts of pollution.
” Man is the only animal that fouls its own nest.”
The major causes of pollution in today’s world are industries, burning of fossil fuels, garbage, sewage, and smoke, etc. Therefore, in all forms, it threatens life over this planet earth.
Air is an essential need for all living beings. Air pollution refers to the fact that the air is being polluted due to the mixture of many harmful substances in it. The smoke of the vehicles releases harmful substances into the air, which results in acid rain. Due to deforestation, the amount of carbon dioxide has increased in the air.
“Air pollution is turning Mother Nature prematurely Gray.”
(Irv Kupcinet)
Pure drinking water is essential for living a healthy, stronger, and prosperous life. Water pollution is the sad reality of the world today. It refers to the fact that the water that we drink or use, is contaminated. Sewage, industrial wastes, and agricultural chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides are the main causes of water pollution.
Soil Pollution has gradually become a major challenge that we need to overcome for establishing a healthy environment. The massive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides leads to the destroying of useful organisms such as bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms.
Unwanted sounds or noise, that are produced by airplanes, traffic, or industrial machinery is considered a form of pollution. Noise pollution is at its worst in densely populated areas. It has spread too far and wide. It can cause hearing loss, stress, high blood pressure, sleeplessness, and distraction.
“Pollution should never be the price of prosperity.”
(Al Gore)
One must get on the task of preventing or reducing pollution as soon as possible. People should take public transport to reduce vehicular smoke. Noise pollution can be overcome by adding soundproofing to doors, walls, and particularly in industrial working areas. Above all, we must adopt the habit of recycling to reduce land pollution. We should stop using excessive chemicals in agriculture to save our water from being polluted.
“The only solution to pollution is a people's humane revolution!”
(Bobby Seale)
