My Aim in Life - English Essay

“The aim if reached or not makes great the life.”

(Robert Browning)

The aim is very important in life because it brings all our energies to one point. A man without any ambition cannot progress in this world. He has no goal and destination. He achieves nothing in life. So, every young person should have an ambition for his career.

It is a fact that progress, prosperity, and peace are the result of human ambitions. But simply having an ambition is not enough. Ambition must be backed up by continuous efforts to achieve it. If a man sets an ambition before him but does nothing to achieve it, he will never achieve anything. His ambition is no more than an unreal dream.

“Ambition should be made of sterner stuff.”

                            (William Shakespeare)

There are many aims as men. The nature of ambition is different from person to person. Some people want to be a doctor, others to be engineers or civil and military officers.

As for myself, the sole object of my life is to lead a life of simplicity and goodness. Therefore, my ambition in life is to become a teacher. I’ve my own reasons for this.

First, about seventy percent of people in my country are illiterate. By becoming a teacher, I’ll be able to remove illiteracy and ignorance.

Secondly, though teaching is not a paying profession, yet it is one of the noblest professions. The best people in the world are those who learn and teach others. It is the only profession in which a man can serve his nation in the best possible manner. Moreover, our Holy Prophet  is the greatest teacher of mankind. He said:

“The best amongst you is one who gives benefits to others.”

Thirdly, I take pleasure in solving problems and explaining them to others. Because a man can serve his nation well only when he has some interest in the work he is performing. Besides, I will serve my country by producing better citizens. The students of today are the citizens of tomorrow. By being a teacher, I will be able to make my humble contribution to the building of my nation.

In the light of the above-mentioned reasons, I’m convinced that this aim is according to my taste and nature. I will, therefore, leave no stone unturned to achieve this ambition of my life.

“The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose.”

(Robert Byrne)
